Foster Urgently Needed for Journi!
Journi (formerly Poppy) is a true survivor. She was rescued during the July 4th Sandy Creek floods after losing everything—her home, her family, and her entire litter of puppies. Found trapped on the second floor of her flooded house, Journi was saved thanks to the relentless efforts of Tonya Arceneaux of Lost Paws Missing Dog Rescue and The Cajun Navy.
Since then, her journey has been anything but easy. An extreme escape artist fueled by trauma, Journi has escaped multiple times—once traveling over 20 miles on foot back to familiar ground. Despite all she’s endured, she remains incredibly sweet and deeply loving toward people. Her spirit is gentle, even though her heart is hurting.
Journi is about 1.5 years old, heartworm positive, and recovering both physically and emotionally. She’s been spayed and is working toward a healthy weight so that she can begin her heart worm treatment. Journi was previously with @pointe183vet, who have shown her tremendous compassion, but now she's ready to move on to a foster home. Journi has lived with other dogs and cats in the past, but for now we believe a single-pet home will give her the calmest, safest space to heal.
Journi needs a very special foster—or adopter—who understands shy, traumatized dogs. She would do best with someone who is patient, home often, and willing to work closely with our rescue and the veterinarian throughout her recovery. A secure, privacy-fenced yard and careful supervision outdoors are essential.
She has already survived the unimaginable. Now, Journi deserves a safe place to land, consistency, and a human who will move at her pace and never give up on her. We are looking for a true angel to help Journi through this rough patch of her life. If you think you could be that person, please reach out or visit www.lagovistapaws.org.
